International Shipping Info | The Jonsteen Company

International Order Processing

The Jonsteen Company is a truly international nursery. We regularly ship trees and tree seeds to all corners of the Earth; however, every country has their own rules and regulations regarding the importation of plants and seeds. Once an international order is placed, we will contact the customer directly with their country's additional importation requirements, if any, and associated expenses, including shipping/handling. Customers will be given the opportunity to refund their order at this time, or proceed with fulfillment.

Here are a few basic points regarding international shipping:

  • Many countries require that a Phytosanitary Certificate accompany shipments of live tree seedlings and seeds. These certificates serve as proof of inspection by our local agriculture department, and cost an additional $75/each. Only one Phytosanitary Certificate is required per order.

  • Along with a Phytosanitary Certificate, some countries — like China, South American countries, and many Middle Eastern countries — require the purchaser to acquire an import permit from their local authorities before they will be allowed to import plants or seeds into the country. In these cases, the import permit must be faxed or emailed to us before our agricultural department will issue a Phytosanitary Certificate.

  • With guidance from the United States Department of Agriculture, we carefully follow each country's rules and regulations pertaining to the shipment of live plant material. While the majority of international parcels reach their destination without issue, our tree products are sometimes restricted in error. Because the proper application of international agricultural regulations is outside of our control, all international sales are final.
