Notes from the Nursery:
Orders within the U.S.
We are located in Humboldt County, California, along the Redwood Coast near to the border of Oregon. Our hours of operation are Monday – Friday, 9am – 5pm PST. Barring special circumstances or request, we ship orders within 3 business days of receipt at the latest, giving priority to expedited orders (where customer designates shipping service other than standard or ground).
All orders are fulfilled Monday – Friday beginning at 8am PST, meaning that any order placed after 8am PST will likely be shipped out the following business day.
Please note that delivery estimates shown at checkout are provided by our carriers and are not guaranteed. For more information about the shipping services we use, please visit our carriers' websites:
Our trees are really sturdy and care is easy. The trees are well-hydrated when they leave our nursery, and the protective sleeves we use to ship them do a good job retaining moisture around the roots and soil. These are container-grown seedlings, so their roots have not been disturbed during extraction — all the soil they've ever grown in is right there with them in the root plug. This makes our trees largely impervious to the typical "shock" that other plants can suffer during transport and transplant.
Once an order has shipped, an email is sent out to the customer's preferred address with tracking information so the shipment can be followed en route, allowing the customer to know exactly when to expect their order.
The Jonsteen Company is a truly international nursery. We regularly ship trees and tree seeds to all corners of the Earth; however, every country has their own rules and regulations regarding the importation of plants and seeds. Once an international order is placed, we will contact the customer directly with their country's additional importation requirements, if any, and associated expenses. Customers will be given the opportunity to refund their order at this time, or proceed with fulfillment.
Here are a few basic points regarding international shipping:
- Many countries require that a Phytosanitary Certificate accompany shipments of live tree seedlings and seeds. These certificates serve as proof of inspection by our local agriculture department, and cost an additional $65/each. Only one Phytosanitary Certificate is required per order.
- Along with a Phytosanitary Certificate, some countries — like China, South American countries, and many Middle Eastern countries — require the purchaser to acquire an import permit from their local authorities before they will be allowed to import plants or seeds into the country. In these cases, the import permit must be faxed or emailed to us before our agricultural department will issue a Phytosanitary Certificate.
- If your country requires an import permit, give us a call at 1-888-387-3379 or email email@example.com and we will work with you to help get your order through customs.
