About Canyon Live Oak
From California, Southwest Oregon, Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, and Baja California, Canyon Live Oak (Quercus chrysolepis) is a dense and dark-foliaged evergreen tree of commanding size, growing up to 100 feet tall (although most specimens are closer to between 70 and 80 feet tall). The leaves of this tree resemble Holly with the exception that the leaf undersides are golden in color, as are the tree's golden-scaled acorn caps. Canyon Live Oak produces among the largest acorns of any oak, and is the most widely distributed oak in California.
