About Giant Sequoia
In 1956, Congress proclaimed a 275 foot-tall ancient Giant Sequoia standing majestically in King's Canyon National Park to be a National Shrine — the official, living Christmas Tree of the United States of America. Truth is, much smaller Giant Sequoias are highly sought after for Christmas trees too, as they take on a perfectly conical shape and graceful, airy foliage when young. Prized also for ornamental planting, the hardy Giant Sequoia grows in many climates, and becomes ever more impressive and beautiful with age.Any time of year, the Giant Sequoia (Sequoiadendron giganteum) is a truly fascinating and awe-inspiring tree species. Also known as Sierra Redwood or Big Tree, the Giant Sequoia is the world's largest living thing, and can survive for more than three millennia. This marvelous tree species is undeniably a wonder of the plant kingdom, if not its crowning glory. So whether you want to plant a wonderful living Christmas tree or give a gift that will keep on giving for generations, we think these Giant Sequoias are among the season's most miraculous and lasting gift ideas!
About Jonsteen's Seedlings
All of our trees are seed-grown at our nursery on California's Redwood Coast, which is inspected monthly and licensed by the California Department of Agriculture. Trees can provide a natural barrier against high winds, temperatures, noise pollution and soil erosion, all while benefiting local air quality, wildlife and property values — a Jonsteen seedling will only grow in value and beauty!
About Jonsteen's 100% Guarantee
All of our trees are guaranteed to arrive healthy and in good condition. If your tree perishes despite your honest efforts, we will be happy to replace it with a small-sized seedling for just the cost of shipping/handling. You can learn more about our guarantee and tree replacement policy here.

Caring for Sequoias
The Giant Sequoia is a mountain species, growing at up to 9,000 feet in elevation. It is native only to a very limited range along the western slopes of the Sierra Nevada mountain range in central California, where winters are cold and snowy and summers are hot and dry. Despite its limited natural range, the Giant Sequoia is a highly adaptable species. It is both cold and heat hardy, and can grow almost anywhere in the United States. The two primary keys to success with the Giant Sequoia are: [1] a nice, sunny growing location; and [2] a watering cycle which allows the Giant Sequoia’s roots to dry out in between waterings.
