About Pacific Dogwood

Also known as Western Dogwood and Mountain Dogwood, Pacific Dogwood (Cornus nuttallii) is a lovely understory tree highlighting forests in western North America, from British Columbia down into Southern California. The western cousin of Flowering Dogwood (Cornus florida), Pacific Dogwood gets a bit larger than Flowering Dogwood, but, otherwise, the two trees are very similar in appearance and habit, displaying many of the same beautiful characteristics — especially the Dogwood’s trademark white blooms. The National Champion Western Dogwood is a 60-foot tall tree in Oregon, but, typically, Pacific Dogwood climbs to between 25 and 40 feet tall.

About Jonsteen's Seedlings

All of our trees are seed-grown at our nursery on California's Redwood Coast, which is inspected monthly and licensed by the California Department of Agriculture. Trees can provide a natural barrier against high winds, temperatures, noise pollution and soil erosion, all while benefiting local air quality, wildlife and property values — a Jonsteen seedling will only grow in value and beauty!

About Jonsteen's 100% Guarantee

All of our trees are guaranteed to arrive healthy and in good condition. If your tree perishes despite your honest efforts, we will be happy to replace it with a small-sized seedling for just the cost of shipping/handling. You can learn more about our guarantee and tree replacement policy here.

Seedling Size Chart: Small

Due to the dynamic nature of actively growing trees, as well as the tremendous variation between species’ growth rates, we rely on the cubic volume of a seedling’s root mass to determine its “size” (Small / Medium / Large / XL). Within each size there is minor variance — the dimensions provided here represent the category minimum. If exact measurements are essential, please contact us about current stock.

A bit small, but it arrived in great condition! Good root development, too. Can’t wait to see it branch out in the spring.

All are Growing Strong!

The Pacific dogwood is a beautiful ornamental tree native to my area. Despite some negative reviews on Amazon, I ordered four seedlings (direct) back in the winter and planted them immediately. I tended them for months and saw no signs of buds. I became convinced that none were viable. Finally, in the beginning of May, I noticed tiny bits of green where the buds were starting. I'm happy to say that now, at the end of May, all of my seedlings are growing and strong. Thank you!

Thanks for not giving up on these trees, Michael!

My incense cedar,a Douglas for and a coastal redwood from a previous order have all died. Followed all directions and am hopeful that my most recent order survives
